Click facilities such as the Communications Unit to open them.
Click and hold on materials such as Scrap Piles or Flora to destroy them, and harvest the resources.
E to open Inventory - from here, you can eat food and plant seeds.
Q to open Schematics menu - from here, you can complete upgrades or build facilities.
Your objective is to build a rocket and get off of the planet.
